Rescue PrePlans
“Pre-rescue planning, communication, and effective coordination of rescue activities are critical in the event that a life-threatening incident should occur,” according to OSHA.
At Roco Rescue, we believe that with careful pre-planning, incidents that require rescue can be avoided in nearly all instances. In fact, one of the primary goals of every Roco Rescue standby team is to prevent rescues. To meet that goal, our experts work closely with the employer to develop a thorough plan.
We strive to go above and beyond what’s expected. For example, although it isn’t required, we always review the permit to ensure compliance with the OSHA regulations. In the event that a rescue is required, our preplan will guide rescue activities and provide a high-degree of confidence among team-members.
For permit required confined spaces, OSHA 1910.146 section (K) (1) (v) states that the employer shall:
- Provide the rescue team or service selected with access to all permit spaces from which rescue may be necessary so that the rescue service can develop appropriate rescue plans and practice rescue operations
And 1926.1211(a)(5) states the employer shall:
- Provide the rescue team or service selected with access to all permit spaces from which rescue may be necessary so that the rescue team or service can develop appropriate rescue plans and practice rescue operations.
A rescue plan is best created by the rescue service and should address all possible hazards in the space. Section B (1) of OSHA 1910.146 Appendix F asks:
- Does the rescue service have a plan for each of the kinds of permit space rescue operations at the facility?
- Is the plan adequate for all types of rescue operations that may be needed at the facility?
