Certification to NFPA 1006 Confined Space & Rope Rescue

Roco’s Fast-Track™ Rope & Confined Space Rescue Technician course is the ultimate rope rescue experience. This eleven-day, 110-hour program is designed to produce a well-rounded rescuer who is capable of safely and effectively responding to a wide variety of confined space and rope rescue incidents. The course begins with core skills and concludes with testing to the job performance requirements listed in NFPA 1006 and 1670 for both Rope and Confined Space Rescue Technician Level. Certification testing to a national consensus standard is an excellent means of documenting individual rescue skills proficiency in accordance with OSHA 1910.146 Permit Required Confined Space regulation. This accelerated program quickly advances students to more difficult and complex confined space and technical rope rescue operations. The rescuer’s response capabilities are enhanced by extensive hands-on learning stations and realistic problem-solving exercises, including on-air, simulated IDLH scenarios.

Roco’s certification testing includes individual skills proficiency testing as well as scenario-based performance evaluations. It also includes a written exam. Certification is valid for two years and can be renewed by completing Roco’s Rescue Technician Recertification program.

Compliance Note: OSHA 1910.146 Permit Required Confined Space regulation requires all rescue team members to practice making permit space rescues at least once every 12 months from actual or representative confined spaces. OSHA has approved Roco’s Types Chart, which classifies these representative spaces into six (6) confined space types for rescue planning and practice purposes. NFPA 1006 requires individual rescuers to demonstrate rescue competency on an annual basis, and NFPA 1670 states that rescue teams must undergo an annual performance evaluation.
